JILL HOOPER FINE ART

In 2014, Hooper spent time in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza skething and painting the patients, staff, and buildings of St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital. St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital is the only charitable provider of expert eye care in the Palestinan territories, treating patients regardless of ethnicity, religion, or ability to pay.

With a hospital in Jerusalem, satellite clinics in Gaza, Hebron, Anabta, and mobile outreach teams

across the West Bank, eye care is more available to isolated communities. 

Hooper was able to illustrate this effort with her ability to capture the human spirit through portraiture.
